The Alva Bradley shipwreck was a three masted schooner and was discovered between North and South Manitou Islands in the 1990s. There are Many small artifacts areassociated with this wreck. Some of its cargo of steelbillets can be found near the bow of the vessel. 200 yards north east of the main wreck divers will find rigging and other artifacts from this shipwreck.
First enrolled, Cleveland, OH, on July 6, 1870. It Sprung a leak twenty miles off North Manitou Island, during gale, on October 13, 1894. Made lee of island, where she sank. Crew of six men and one woman saved by U.S. Life Saving Service crew, seven miles S x W of station, North Manitou Island. Vessel bound from Fairport, OH, for Milwaukee, WI, with cargo of steel billets. Vessel valued at $20,000; cargo at $25,000.
